The Murder at Miniver Place

The Murder at Miniver Place

An Introduction:

The purpose of our project was to curate an object or event from the Victorian era.  As such, my event was the Manning’s murder trial, and more specifically, my chosen object was the actual manuscript from said trial. While the trial itself caused a significant amount of “sensation” amongst Victorian England, the creative and interpretive portion of my project was in the exploration of domestic spaces, and split between the private and public spheres.  It seemed as though people from all aspects of society played a role in the trial, or at least had an opinion about it, when really, the back story of the crime was a very private love triangle. This presented an interesting dichotomy that I hope comes across clearly throughout my play.
